The governments of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were fighting for the Krishna river. The River Management Board constituted for the purpose of distribution of water, but there is a clue on how to end the controversy over utilization of available water of Nagarjunasagar Dam. They need almost entire 90 TMC ft of water for Kharif and Rabi crops .Meeting the requirements of both states, limited live storage available at the dam, is impossible.
KRMB chairman S.K.G. Pandit told this newspaper as “We are studying the issue but we haven’t arrived at a decision, it is going to be a difficult situation for us”.
Both states want water from the Nagarjunasagar Dam for the ongoing late Kharif crop as well as for the ensuing Rabi crop in the Nagarjunasagar Left Canal, Alimineti Madhavareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (Telangana), Krishna Delta, Nagarjunasagar Right Canal (Andhra Pradesh).
