Ruchita Goud of Medak who saved two girls and herself from being killed in a train accident at Masaipet last year, was chosen for bravery award by the Council of Child Welfare. When the school bus, Ruchita and others were travelling in, was about to be crushed under a speeding train at a level crossing, she lifted two girls and threw them out of the window and jumped to safety. But the sad part of the accident was 15 kids along with Ruchita’s younger sister were killed as the train hit the bus. The driver of the bus also was killed in the accident.
The driver of the bus was said to be talking over the cellphone and did not notice the oncoming train while the accident occurred.
Ruchita will receive the award from the President on the Republic Day.
