Eminent writer and activist BS Ramulu will head the Telangana Backward Communities Commission, according to an order released by the government today. Dr Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohana Rao, E Anjaneya Gowd, Juluri Gowrishankar will be the members and the Commissioner of BC Welfare will act as member-secretary.
The Commission will examine requests for inclusion of any class of citizens as a Backward Class in the lists and hear complaints of over-inclusion or under-inclusion of any community in such list and tender advice to the government; examine and make recommendations on any other matter relating to the Backward Classes that may be referred to it by the Government from time to time, according to the notification.
The Commission will have all the powers of a Civil Court and can summon and enforce the attendance of any person from any part of State
The Chairman and members will hold office for a term of three years from the date of assumption of office.
