Buddha – Light of Asia…

Mana chertraReferred to as the Light of Asia – Buddha attains Enlightenment after 40-day meditation under a Peepal tree ( Bodhi tree ) in Gaya in 531 BC. What began as a Boudha union with His preachings – Buddam, Dharmam and Sangam later became a religion across the globe. Born as prince Siddartha in 563 BC in Lumbini, Kapilavasthu, in Nepal, he detaches himself from worldly life and parts with his wife Yashoda, son Rahul and parents king Shuddodana and Mayadevi to reach Pataliputram ( Patna in Bihar ). His quest for peace ends at Gaya. He taught His principles main being truth and to oppose several immoral and unethical practices. Later, he went to Lanka to spread his principles. The then emperor Ashoka embraced Bhuddism to help spread the principles of Buddha.
