Budgetary Allocation-Forest Department On Cloud

forest-Department-On-CloudThe opposition parties say that the telangana government has presented an impractical budget. One department is overjoyed with their allocations which is the Forest department. The geographic area seems to be nominal but the allocated amount is 400 crore in the state budget. Now the Forest officials are at high spirits since it is the highest ever allocation. Previously when the department had 23 districts it had to struggle for funds. However now it is limited to 10 with a good allocation. The state Principal Conservator of Forests SBL Misra said that the State government had given a clear mandate to the department to increase the forest cover from the existing over 25-33% in the next couple of years. For effectively fulfilling the mandate the department would deploy modern technological tools like Remote sensing, Geographic Information System, management Information System and other tools. Some were being used previously also. Governments’s ‘Haritha Haram’ program is targeting to plant 230 crore plants in the next three years. In this 130 crore would be marked for non-forest areas falling under urban and social forestry.
