“Tagore”, “Ghajini”, “Thupaki” director Murugadoss has said that Indian cinema can compete with Hollywood in terms of content, but the market does not allow us to take up any big action movies.
“Indian films can compete with Hollywood films in terms of content. But considering the scale of Hollywood films, we can’t compete with them in terms of market and it’s quite difficult to take on war films or high budget action movies,” said Murugadoss while he was talking about his hindi remake of “Thupaki” with Akshay Kumar “Holiday” joining the 100 crore club.
“But we can definitely deliver a product in terms of intelligent storylines and content in a sensible action film and compete with Hollywood films,” was his observation. “Holiday” is Murugadoss’s second big success in Hindi after “Ghajini” with Aamir Khan. “Ghajini” had collected 200 crores, the highest for any Indian cinema.
Murugadoss is currently making an action film with his “Holiday” girl, Sonakshi Sinha. His latest film with Tamil superstar Vijay’s first look has just been released to great reception.
