New Delhi (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday registered a case against wrestler Narsingh Yadav to probe the allegations of doping lodged against him by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
“We have registered a case against Narsingh Yadav and started a probe against him regarding allegations of dope consumed by him ahead of Rio Olympics,” CBI spokesperson R.K. Gaur told IANS.
Yadav was tested positive on June 25 for a banned substance ahead of the Rio Olympics, which began from August 5 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The WFI on September 16 referred the alleged dope case of grappler Yadav to the CBI for a detailed probe.
After arriving from Rio de Janeiro, WFI President Brijbhushan Sharan Singh requested the Prime Minister’s Office that the probe be carried out by the country’s premier investigating agency.
The complaint was later forwarded to the CBI.
