Central Govt okays Ganga cleaning

ganges-river-view-1-rishikeshThe Central Cabinet has given its green signal for cleaning Ganga river project under the name Namami Ganga at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project at last is taking a shape. The river flows down 11 States to a length of 2,510 km and nearly 700 effluents from industries will pour into the river, which is 3000 times more than the normal pollutants dumped, according to the estimates of international health body. Environmentalists said that the cleaning becomes easier if this pollution is first controlled. Centre has decided to make the people partners in the programme for completing the project as scheduled. The Centre is expected to bear the entire cost of the project.
