Centre evades SCS issue, says no tag in the Act

venkaiahTurning the tables on Congress, the BJP-led NDA government has made it clear in Parliament that the issue of Special Category Status (SCS) was not mentioned in the AP Reorganization Act at all and the then UPA has failed to do so. Responding to the notices given by Congress members, Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu said in Lok Sabha today that the then Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh has only made the statement but the same was not incorporated in the Act. “You have a political agenda. You have betrayed people of AP and Telangana for years together. You don’t have the locus standi to question our government’s commitment” he criticized.
Admitting his statement in Rajya Sabha during the passage of the Bill that AP should be given special status for ten years, Venkaiah Naidu said- I made a demand but you have not honoured your own assurance. The point was not mentioned in the Act”
He has stated that after the 14 Finance Commission recommendations, some problems have cropped up which resulted in the implementation of SCS issue
