Finals on Sunday
Chennai super kings reached finals after a win in the second qualifier match though they faced a defeat in the first qualifier. Chennai defeated the Bengaluru Royal Challengers in the Ranchi match by three wickets. The match was tough till the last ball but the Kohli team was trounced by the Dhoni team. After winning the toss the Chennai team chose bowling and controlled the Challengers well. V Kohli (Capt) who was in form and AB de Villiers were dismissed and sent to the pavilion with least scores by the Chennai bowlers. Opener Gayle who made 41 runs in 43 balls was out in Raina bowling. There after Dinesh Karthik-Sarparaj pair tried to save the innings. As the lower order batsmen raised their hands Challengers accumulated only 139 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets.
Under Nehra’s wonderful bowling three wickets were downed. With a target of 140 runs, Chennai took up batting and at one stage was in crisis losing three vital wickets for only 61 runs. D Smith , 17, F Du Plessis, 21, Suresh Raina duck out reached pavilion and put the team in tension. Hussey, who was a failure in the previous match, came in form and occupied the main role in the victory to claim 56 runs in 46 balls, hitting two sixes and three fours but Wiese dismissed him. when Dhoni and Negi returned to pavilion the match turned into a tension at one stage. But Ashwin hit a winning shot and took the Chennai team again to IPL finals. Nehra was declared the man of the match. Chennai will meet Mumbai and fight for the title in finals to be played in Kolkatta on Sunday. It is interesting to watch the finals as Chennai tasted defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians in the first qualifier.
