China Defies India, Builds Dams

china damChina defied India’s objections and set to construct a big dam in the Pak occupied Kashmir, though it is a disputed territory between India and Pakistan. The Chinese public sector firm ‘The Gorges Corporation’ will build this 1100 megawatt power project at Cohala on the Zhelum river. The corporation wrote in its website that an agreement with Pakistan was reached over this. Pak media also announced that a 30 year tariff over this dam was reached between Pak and China. China under its ‘New China-Pakistan Economic Corridor’ is constructing another dam. China has already developed its Kara koram national highway and constructed a railway line upto Gwadar port in Pak. Despite India’s warnings China has undertaken all these construction activities in the Pak occupied Kashmir.
