A top government official in Leh said on Monday that China has been protesting against a civil work in Demchok area for the past one week, amid incursions by Chinese troops into the Indian territory in Ladakh.
the district magistrate and district collector of Leh, SS Gill, told while speaking to media, “It’s been a week that China has been protesting against the construction of a NREGA irrigation canal in Demchok.”.
He added, This time Chinese civilians have come to oppose the work on the canal and have been showing us banners”.
He also informed via his Twitter account, This time Chinese civilians have come to oppose the work on the dam & are showing us banners: SS Gill”.
He also said that the situation has been tense since a week between the two armies and the civilians on the border. He said that Chinese Army has been facing off with the Indian Army.
“Their civilians have also been facing off with our civilians. The situation is tense,” the official informed.
