Civic Facilities Being Suspended by HCA

Civic-Facilities-Being-SuspFrom Tuesday, essential civic facilities being suspended may see by the Hyderabad Cricket Association, they are failing to pay an outstanding tax amount of Rs 12.06 crore.

On February 6, The Industrial Area Local Authority and GHMC had issued warrants to HCA for not clearing tax dues since 2009.
“On February 6, GHMC had seized three chairs, belonging to the president, vice-president and secretary of the association, apart from a xerox machine. The warrants were issued stating that Monday was the deadline to pay the total outstanding amount. However, the association has not made any payments yet, and therefore, the essential civic amenities will be disconnected. A team will visit the stadium on Tuesday,” said Raghu Prasad, the East Zone Commissioner, GHMC.
“The land and the established stadium belong to the government, not the HCA. So we’ll have to abide by what the government tells us. Earlier, the HCA committee had requested that the stadium be exempted from paying property tax, but those talks were abandoned halfway through. The association couldn’t meet the commissioner, as he was busy in a meeting with the Chief Minister. I’ll have to meet him and the GHMC officials, only then can we plan our future course of action,” said K. John Manoj, the HCA secretary.
