An understanding was reached on the distribution of Krishna waters between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Out of the available 30 tmc water in the river, Telangana has to use 20 tmc and Andhra Pradesh 10 tmc as Andhra Pradesh used more water till now. The River Board will take the final decision on water distribution after the two states submit the actual account of their usage of water. The Telangana irrigation officials complained at the four hour long board meeting that Andhra Pradesh used excess water of 7 tmc. The allotment of Krishna water to Telangana is 299 tmc and 512 tmc to Andhra Pradesh. The Board ruled that the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should share the water in the ratio of 36.8 and 63.2.
The Board discussed about the safety of the Sri Sailam Dam also. The dam was damaged partially due to flood to river Krishna. The Board promised to write a letter to the Central Water Commission about this. The remaining contentious issues would be discussed in the further meetings of the River Board.
