‘Clean India’ Mission gets Gates Foundation and USAID as partners

ModiAs an impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at New York’s Central Park, the US aid agency USAID and the Gates Foundation have agreed to join the mission of ‘Clean India’.

Modi,, during his address in New York, had focused on hygiene and toilets for all Indian.

Collaboration has been understood to develop three Indian cities, Ajmer, Allahabad and Visakhapatnam, as smart cities.

The US is also participating in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Partnership for 500 cities under which water, sanitation, solid waste management and hygiene are topmost in the priorities for the Modi government, with USAID and Gates Foundation.

Modi launched the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, a cleanliness drive throughout the nation, on October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The United States will also help India in setting up skill development centers and an international standard technological institute.
