Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao may announce new districts as a part of his vision for Golden Telangana. According to the sources he is likely to announce them on Independence Day at Golconda Fort.
Currently there are 10 districts in Telangana State and there have been plans to divide these existing 10 districts into 24 districts. In some districts, public are forced to spend more than a day for any work they have in the district head quarters.
Moreover, erstwhile AP is the only State in the country that has not revised its district boundaries, though the geographical, population realities have changed in favour of smaller districts. As per CM KCR, the idea of forming new districts is not only for better administration, but also to generate employment and to develop different sectors.
Proposed new districts are Siddipet, Wanaparthy, Nagar Kurnool, Suryapet, Bhadrachalam, Mancherial, Jangaon, Prof. Jayashankar (Bhoopalapally) District, Jagityala, Vikarabad, Hyderabad Central, Charminar, Golconda, Hyderabad East, Secunderabad and Sangareddy.
