The Congress demanded a structured discussion on the renaming of the international airport of Hyderabad located at Shamsabad. Deputy leader of Congress in Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma said put the demand forth in the House saying that in the last two days, anger and anguished has been expressed in the Upper House of the Parliament.
Mr. Sharma also informed that Congress has given a notice to the Chairman of the House, thus a ‘structured discussion’ should take place on the issue. PJ Kurien, Deputy Chairman responded that the any decision on the notice will be taken up by the Chairman.
The Civil Aviation Ministry had directed the airport officials of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Hyderabad to name the domestic terminal after NT Rama Rao, late Chief Minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. Congress has been contending that the former prime minister’s name has been removed from the airport.
