Congress Stalls Rajya Sabha over Naming NTR Terminal for RGIA

rajaOn Thursday in Rajya Sabha Congress members forced two brief adjournments over the naming of Hyderabad domestic airport, contending that Rajiv Gandhi’s name has been removed and should be restored.

During the House met V Hanumantha Rao (Congress) raised this issue. He said “They want to take political mileage”.

P J Kurien the Deputy Chairman told Rao that he was not the only person having love for Rajiv Gandhi. Yesterday the matter was raised by Deputy Leader of the Congress party Anand Sharma, in Rajya Sabha, to which Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had responded.

He said “Now you can’t raise it again in Zero Hour. If you want to raise it again give proper notice,”

Kurien said, “What you are doing is indiscipline. If you want discussion (on the issue), give proper notice”.

He adjourned the House for 10 minutes as the members did not relent.

Similar scenes were witnessed when the House reassembled and it was again adjourned for 10 minutes.
