Conserve biodiversity: Javadekar

DD_11Minister of State of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has emphasised the need to conserve biodiversity for coming generations. On International Day for Biological Diversity celebrated today he said that challenge is to imbibe and translate the theme of Biodiversity for Sustainable Development. The day is celebrated to recognize the pivotal role of biodiversity and to increase awareness of biodiversity and the threats to it. In 1992 the text of convention of biodiversity was adopted. This year’s theme is ‘Biodiversity for Sustainable Development’. The challenge before India to imbibe and translate the theme of ‘Biodiversity for Sustainable Development’ is imperative. The Day is being celebrated all over the country and the main event is held in Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir.
