Copley medal for Higgs

brk199aPhysicist Peter Higgs received the world’s oldest scientific award – Royal Society’s prestigious Copley medal. Earlier, the medal was given to Charles Darwin and Albert Einstein. The medal had been given to scientists since 1731. Higgs also won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2013 for discovering a mechanism that enables elementary particles to acquire mass. It is officially known as the Higgs boson. Stephen Haking, Alec Jeffrey and Andry Gimi received the award recently.
