Council seat: US backs India

unnamed (3)Prime Minister Narendra Modi after a bilateral meeting with President Obama told newsmen that US has decided to support India on Security Council seat. He thanked Obama for US support for India’s permanent membership of a reformed UN Security Council and sought US support to complete the reform process within a fixed time frame. Further, Modi expressed appreciation for continued US support for India’s membership of the international export control regimes within our targeted time
frame. As terrorism threats grow and new ones emerge both have resolved to further deepen cooperation on counter terrorism and
radicalism including a cyber security dialogue. They agreed to further strengthen cooperation to help Afghan combat terrorism and build a peaceful, stable and prosperous future. To further increase strategic engagement in Asia, Pacific and Indian Ocean Regions as also joint engagement with Japan Modi looked forward to working with US for
India’s early membership of Asian Pacific Economic Community. He described the meeting as productive in the joint press briefing with US President.
