T Harish Rao, Irrigation Minister of Telangana on Friday demanded amendments in the rules pertaining to crop insurance in order to meet the needs of the farmers. He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of State Credit Seminar held in Hyderabad.
Mr. Rao said that the slabs of crop loan by the banks should be revived and the banks should be educated on the required loans crop-wise.
Mr. Rao said that the crop insurance should cover maximum losses. NABARD should employ experts in disbursement of loans, asked Harish Rao.
On Mission Kakatiya, Mr. Rao said, “the State Government first focused on minor and medium irrigation so as to make nearly 265 TMC of water available for irrigation through Mission Kakatiya. Nearly 9,000 lakes are proposed to be restored in the next one year”.
