Cyber crime goes unabated

cyber-crime-1_0_0_0Cyber crime in city goes unabated and gullible public were cheated in lakhs. The criminals started using the modern growth engine – information technology – to their advantage. They duplicate the credit cards and other such cards after collecting the key information from customers and banks and dupe the account holders in lakhs and crores. By and large the crime increased by the day. On an average the CCS receives about five to eight complaints daily. The police had been giving guidelines to check the crime to some extent. People have been advised not to go by the sms messages of lottery or other such messages. Email hacking, account takeover and mails promising jobs in USA, UK were some of the crimes perpetrated. Police identified that such crimes were committed by Nigerians in West Africa.  Incoming call numbers with + 92 should be avoided, said police. Calls coming for enquiry of account details should be avoided.


IT officers do not phone up and ask for details. One has to avoid such calls. Similarly people should not believe the messages that one can earn lakhs while sitting at home. Criminals promise large sums but force the people to invest initially a small amount. They bolt away later, said police. It was the duty of police and the government to caution people. In order to curb the cyber crime, vigilance wing is compulsory and their technology must be upgraded. Like other countries, new cyber strategies should be devised in the national interest so that citizens could get full security, according to technology experts.
