Speaking at a function organized by the Madiga Dandora in his honour, Deputy CM of Telangana Dr. T. Rajaiah recalled the various schemes and efforts by the government for ensuring the welfare of Dalits.
He also said that the Telangana government would categorise the Madiga community into various groups like A, B, C and D. The categorization would be taken up on the basis of the population.
He said that the Telangana government is in close consultation with the Central government for introducing the Bill for categorization of Dalit community. The bill would be prepared according to the recommendations of the Usha Mehra committee, which was formed to classify the Dalit community.
With the passage of the Bill in Parliament, of which the TS government is hopeful, the Dalit community could develop and prosper well.
Dr. Rajaiah said that the Telangana government is committed to the welfare of Dalits, to ensure so KCR has appointed a Dalit as Dy. CM and introduced the Kalyan Lakshmi scheme for poor Dalit girls. He also informed that KCR has allocated a sum of Rs. 50000 crore for improving the weaker sections in the state.
