Death toll reaches to 9 and several injured in Assam-Nagaland border issue

Assam-Nagaland-borderCurfew has been imposed in Assam’s Gogalghat and Rongajan as atleast three people were killed and six injured in the fresh police firing on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, atleast one person was killed and 18 others were injured in a lathi-charge and open fire on protestors by the police.

The Chief Ministers of Assam and Nagaland have been called by the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday to resolve the dispute.

Earlier, in a press conference, Assam CM Tarun Gogoi blamed Rajnath Singh for the situation in the state as the centre has failed to provide security in the border region.

The death toll reached 9 in the clashes since it started, and dozens were injured as a result of lathi-charges and firing at protestors. About 10,000 people are forced to live in relief camp as they fled their homes.
