Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have been issued arrest warrants after they failed to turn up to explain themselves over complaints that contents of film Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela hurt Hindu religious sentiments. A lawyer complained at the Muzaffarpur court in February, the Court henceforth ordered them to appear, but they did not comply.
Warrants were issued against the producer of the film Kishore Lulla and a few lyricists too. The Mumbai police are ordered by Chief Judicial Magistrate SP Singh to arrest them and produce them at the Court on the 4th of June.
Ram Leela is an indianized version of Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet”.
