The Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to approach the Court to seek directions to the speaker to take action against the legislators who defect the party post assembly election. The Congress has been demanding action against defectors under anti-defection law, but the speaker showed no initiation.
Leader of Opposition in the state K Jana Reddy said, “If the Speaker is not taking any action against (the defectors) immediately, we will approach the High Court or Supreme Court seeking justice”.
The defection issue rocked the Assembly on Monday when the opposition Congress created a rift that led the House to be adjourned without any business.
“Already I have submitted a petition to the Speaker against two MLAs. Tomorrow, I am going give another petition against two more MLAs”, added Jana Reddy.
The Congress in the state had to face the brunt of defection as its four MLAs and nine MLCs switched their loyalties to the ruling party.
