Dengue is not fatal and people need not feel worry about it, said Dr Lakshma Reddy, minister for health and family welfare. “Several reports of people dying because of dengue have been doing rounds and reported in media. They are not true. It is unfortunate despite the quick response by the machinery, these reports have been published. It is quite common that seasonal fevers would hit during rainy season and dengue is one among them. During the days of United AP, there were several cases of death but after the formation of Telangana, the situation has drastically changed and we took prompt measures and reduced vital fevers in agency areas like Bhadrachalam and Eturu Nagaram etc” the minister said.
The cases appear more since we have been conducting tests on more number of people, he explained.
Minister admitted dengue was rampant in Bonakal and Govindapuram and Ravinutala villages in Khammam district but only two persons have died due to dengue. Some people who died due to cardiac arrest or road accidents were also declared as dengue-related deaths, he said.
The medical teams are prepared to take on an eventuality and all the medicines are available and there is absolutely no scarcity, Mr Reddy said.
