Khammam district is reeling under intense fever, mostly dengue and according to reports, 21 deaths have occurred so far. Nearly 76 villages-majority of them in agency areas- have been affected and there are over 350 people were down with the killer fever.
The worst affected is Bonakal mandal and although several medical teams have been touring and giving medicines, there is no relief.
The public health centre at Bonakal lacks minimum facilities like beds and patients had to bring cots from their home. Allapadu and Ravinutala were the most affected villages where at least one or two people in every family have been suffering from dengue.
Doctors say unclean surroundings, mosquito menace are reasons for the proliferation of dengue.
