DMK asks for ‘Bharat Ratna’ to party founder Annadurai

dmkDMK President M Karunanidhi on Sunday wrote to the President and the Prime Minister seeking an announcement to confer ‘Bharat Ratna’ for Dravidian ideologue and party founder CN Annadurai.

Mr. Karunanidhi wrote identical letters to Pranab Mukerjee and Narendra Modi, saying, “The founder leader of the DMK, Arignar Anna (Annadurai) is a great social reformer, great writer, orator and litterateur of Tamil Nadu. His literary and political works both in Tamil and English has been acclaimed as among the best in Tamil Nadu”.

He asked the central government to confer the award to late legendary leader of Tamil Nadu stating that Anna fully deserved to be honoured with the highest civilian award.

Well-known as “Anna” (elder brother), he is also considered as the brightest student of Periyar EV Ramasamy.

after differences of opinion with his mentor, he founded the DMK in 1949. He was one of the best orators in Tamil as well as English languages.
