DMK manifesto proposes referendum in Lanka

DMK party has released it manifesto for the upcoming elections. Though looking to reclaim the status of Tamil championship, the party has also focused on issues of national importance.

Speaking on the occasion, DMK Chief Karunanidhi has declared that he will back neither Rahul Gandhi nor Narendra Modi for PM post. The party manifesto proposes to abolish death sentence entirely. The issue has been in public attention due to recent controversial decisions on Rajiv Gandhi assassins. The completion of Sethusamudram project, making Puducherry a new state, changes to official language act of the country, effecting consideration of all state languages as official languages at the central level were other proposals of the manifesto. Putting Fishermen in ST category is another populist proposal of the manifesto.

FDI in retail and education is opposed by the party. A referendum demand in the Northern, Eastern provinces of Tamil dominated regions of Sri Lanka was another key proposal of the manifesto.
