The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has slapped Rs 216 crore hike in power charges but exempted domestic consumers of all categories from hike. A two per cent increase in non-domestic sector was imposed. This means, industrial and commercial sectors will have to bear the brunt. A relief is that there will be no hike for units which consume less than 100 units per month in the non-domestic sector.
There will be no hike for farming sector as power is supplied free in the state. No power hike for small scale units and NTR Sujala Sravanti scheme as well, according to G Bhavani Prasad, Chairman of the APERC.
The discoms have proposed a marginal hike of 3.5 per cent for the domestic consumers but APERC turned down the proposal
