The Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) welcomes the directive of supreme court to the central government to ensure that NRI voting through e-postal system is implemented in eight weeks. And the TITA had requested the election commission to provide alternative voting system for non-resident Indians an April 16th 2014 who migrated from other places. It also stated that 4 alternatives like Network voting, Telephone IVR voting, postal vote and proxy voting to the EC in the request letter.
TITA Founder & President Sundeep Kumar Makthala said, “The decision of the Supreme Court increases the accessibility to around 30% of the technical graduates who are working in different countries and now can exercise their vote in upcoming electoral system. This also helps the Information Technology professionals who travel to different countries on short term and long term assignments regularly.
It would be practically impossible for the seven million Indians abroad to travel India on the polling day. We hope it will be implemented soon and it will provide an opportunity for all those who wish to vote and to participate in the electoral process.”
