EC powers over poll issues unquestioned: Supreme Court

A Supreme Court bench today has declared that the Elections Commission’s authority over determining all issues related to poll, including that of verifying poll expenses accounts submitted by the candidates, is unquestioned. Maharashtra Ex CM Ashok Chavan had approached the court to prevent EC from going into details of questions related to poll expenses submitted by him and few paid news complaints filed against him by opponents. EC will have 45 days to determine these complaints, SC said.
