Election Commission to Visit J&K Today

Untitled-1Election Commission (EC) team comprising Chief commissioner, VS Sampath and commissioners HS Brahma and Naseem Zaidi, will begin their two-day to Jammu and Kashmirto review the situation and take a final call on holding state Assembly polls in the state.

They are ready to hold polls in the state, informed the Local Commissioner. The term of 87 member J&K will end on January 19th, 2015.

Flood triggered by heavy rain in J&K has claimed over 200 lives. It has caused extensive damage to road, rail and telecommunication infrastructure in the state.

After meeting Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, in New Delhi, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, told media persons that the situation in the state was not favourable for holding Assembly elections.
