Five people, who had tested positive for swine flu, have fled the hospital, creating a panic among the public. Even though 81 positive cases have been reported so far, in Telangana, doctors have been advising the people to not to get carried away by the rumours. The swine flu is under control and there was no need for getting panicked, doctors have been advising.
According to the Director of Health, Telangana State, the officials have the residential addresses of the escaped patients, and they would check in whether the patients require any further treatment or have cured. “These five are absconding cases and our officers are trying to trace them. Their address is with us and we will check whether they are healthy or require further treatment.” Said the Director of Health, Government of Telangana.
According to him, the para-medic staff, community health officers and district medical officers are the most prone to the flu, due to their regular contact with the infected patients. The government must take steps to provide the vaccine against the flu, which is currently unavailable with the medical officers.
Even though Health Minister T Rajaiah has allayed fears against the flu, no concrete steps have been taken to prevent the spread of the flu, like making available the vaccine.
