K RamachandraRao,Director of Met Department, told to the reporters “Cyclone Hudhud will cross the coast tomorrow from Vizag. Heavy to very heavy rainfall are likely to be experienced. South coastal Odisha districts will also face the cyclone”.
The administration of both the states have stocked up food and other essentials for the affected people and also have set up relief camps.
Cyclone Hudhud was upgraded to “very severe” cyclonic storm by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).The cyclone is at a distance of 350 kms from Vishakhapatnam.
The Indian Navy has geared up to render humanitarian assistance.About 250 personnel of the Army have been kept ready in Vizag to aid the administration, in rescue and relief operations.
