Farmers Refuse to Give Land for New Capital of Andhra Pradesh

Untitled-3Revenue officials are trying to pacify farmers to give their lands for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh. But the officials had to meet with resistance during some meetings.

On Tuesday night in a meeting held at Undavalli, the farmers from Penumaka and Undavalli, stated that they were unwilling to give their lands for the new capital.

Farmers alleged that the government is trying to snatch only the lands of small and marginal farmers who belong to weaker sections. Farmers demanded to the government to acquire lands of wealthy Kamma farmers first for the new capital. They also demanded to use barren lands for same.

In another meeting at Tulluru which was attended by three hundred farmers, they demanded a 50-50 ratio of land pooling. They also put other several conditions to give their lands for the proposed new capital.

Revenue officials tried hard to explain the farmers about the benefits they will get if they pool land for a new capital.
