Festival of Lights today

Telugu-Festival-Diwali-300x300Deepavali festival is well-known as the festival of lights as it drives away ‘amavasya’ darkness to spread brightness and happiness in the world and the occasion is marked by the worship of Goddess
Laxmidevi. The celestial Consort of Lord Vishnu – Laxmi is believed to have slain the demon Narakudu in the battle against asuras, according to puranas.    And so the festival is celebrated to coincide with the
end of Narakasura on Ashwayuja Krishna Chathurdasi as a victory over evil. It is also the belief that each light represents a good
character of a man. Therefore, the festival of lights is a great combination of numerous lights spreading the intellect world-wide.
Narakudu was the son of Bhoodevi and Vishnu and the Lord pronounced a boon, in Kruthayugam, to her that She would give birth in Threthaygam after killing Ravana ie during the Rama incaranation. The demon secures Brahma’s boons through hard pinance and turns violent.
