The state government’s plan to make the capital Hyderabad the first Wi-Fi city in the country seems to rolling soon.
K T Rama Rao, IT minister of state told the media that the ‘HyFi’ project will be launched in phases, initially with free packages. Some of the Wi-Fi hotspots will be installed in the city by October this year.
“We are taking a leaf out of the cities like Mountain View and Houston for offering Wi-Fi services. We are speaking to service providers. We would want to be the first city in the country that provides Wi-Fi hotspots across its length and breadth,” Mr Rama Rao said.
The first phase will be rolled out in October and the entire city will be covered in different phases. He also informed that 4G services would be launched soon in Hyderabad.
