First Ugadi Celebrations of the Telangana State

K.V.-RamanachariHyderabad: The well decked-up for the first Ugadi celebration of the Telangana government. K.V. Ramanachari and Director-Culture, Mamidi Harikrishna, scored.
Over half the space usually used for parking was taken up to create an atmosphere that resembled a typical village and was covered with a green carpet and ‘Lambadas’ danced to glory as traditional ‘oggudolu’ artists played their ‘oggu’ (circular drums), welcoming guests. K. Chandrasekhar Rao a welcome with ‘poornakumbham’.
The open area itself had a thatched roof with mud walls that were strengthened using cow dung, depicting a village set-up. Inside, the Ravindra Bharathi’s stage was completely transformed with a rural backdrop. A visibly-excited Mr. Harikrishna termed the effort a blend of ‘classicism and modernity’, truly depicting the culture Telangana
