Floods killed 138, Rs. 1,000-Cr help offered by Centre

Floods-killedThe floods caused by heavy rain in Jammu and Kashmir took the death toll to over 100. The Centre on Sunday promised an additional assistance of Rs 1,000 crore to the Jammu & Kashmir government.

Modi has called it a ‘national-level disaster’. The PM also assured the people of J&K that the Centre will work with the state government to help in the rescue operations.

Modi offered help to Pakistan, as the torrential rains have killed over 100 people over the past three days.

The flood fury has maintained its grip over Jammu and Kashmir. It’s killed over 138 and many marooned as the swirling waters inundated the Army cantonment, civil secretariat and the high Court in Srinagar and it also snapped road and communication links.

Teams of Army and IAF with 184 columns (75-100 personnel each) of troops and 23 helicopters and planes of Air Force carrying out rescue operations has rescued 12,000 people from various areas of Jammu.
