Companies manufacturing noodles, pasta and macaro are agitated over the orders issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. The food products would be subjected to testing and if the products are not up to the standards, cases under FSS Act and IPC will be filed against the companies. The FSSAI directed the companies to focus their attention on preservatives, synthetic colours, lead, arsenic and cadmium levels.
The FSSAI told that Nesle products neutilicious pajta be sent for testing while banning Maggie noodles. States were asked to test the output of other companies to find out any harmful substance. The Maggie issue has turned out to be a life and death question for ready-made food makers. The FSSAI has written to all States to test products of ITC, GSK Consumer, Ruchi International, Indonissin noodles, pastha, macaroni.
