If Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao eyed on endorsements of Telangana Housing Department, the beneficiaries of 2-bedroom housing scheme will have no choice but to pay a scanty extra bucks from their pocket. Bestowing to recent estimates given by Telangana Housing Department, unit cost has increased to Rs 4.61 lakh. For each 2-bedroom independent house the department is proposing construction of houses of 490 sq ft podium area in 125 sq yards.
Forwarding a press meet here on Monday, They had drawn plans to build 20 independent houses in one acre stated Indrakaran Reddy Housing Minister. Before elections TRS announced its free-housing scheme, estimation is Rs 3.5 lakh for each 2 BHK house. However, due to price growth of raw materials and other factors, unit cost has now hiked to Rs 4.61 lakh.
Before it is announced as 550 sq ft but now it is just 490 sq ft for that final price is Rs 4.61 lakh. Each beneficiary should bear the additional burden, which is likely to be in the range of Rs 70,000 to Rs 80,000 explained Indrakaran. He added that additional cost of Rs 1 lakh on each unit would be provoked for development of colonies like laying road, power, drainage and drinking water lines. Withal, these charges would be borne entirely by the government.
For every five years the target is two lakh houses for every year said Indrakaran. He stressed on an accurate survey by the Housing Department to identify the exact number of poor beneficiaries in all districts. He felt, some surveys had indicated this figure may be in the range of 14 to 22 lakh, there was no accuracy attached to them.
