Gas Leaked: 70 Students Hospitalised

gas leak70 students of a government school in Kollam in Kerala hospitalised as Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML) leaked gas from a unit.

16 children are said to be in the ICU after complaining breathing problems and nausea.

Yesterday, the gas-leak from the same factory has hospitalised about 40 people including students and workers.

“The situation is being studied,” said the district Collector Pranab Jyoti Nath.  The leaked gas is thought to be Sulphur Dioxide. Similar incidents took place in the same factory in 2007 and 2011.

A factory official said that the factory unit was closed today and they are being held responsible falsely.
