GHMC funds for RTC

IMG_306214TS government has decided to merge greater Hyderabad RTC with GHMC in order to bring the loss making corporation into profits on the lines of Mumbai system. The GHMC commissioner will be a director in the RTC board. Due to low occupancy ratio RTC is incurring a loss of Rs 160 crore yearly. In all, in the city the RTC fleet consists of 3,800 vehicles and compared to the expenditure due to staff salaries and establishment its income is said to be low. The average income of GHMC is said to be Rs 2,800 crore till 2014-15. After expenditure it saves Rs 400 crore and a part of this is to be allocated to RTC. Meanwhile, workers’ unions expressed their ire stating that GHMC will be burdened by the new decision.
