Hyderabad got brighter in the nights from now as 748 LED lights have replaced the existing old street lamps. The streets connecting Madina circle to Falaknuma streets witnessed the new LEDs spreading brightness all across. The similar was seen on the stretch from mini Charminar to HICC.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had replaced the conventional bulbs as a pilot project to make Hyderabad brighter. The authorities selected two stretches, West Zone and South Zone, and installed LEDs as the first phase.
The GHMC officials claimed that the newly installed LEDs are major energy-savers and it is expect to reduce 65-67 per cent consumption of energy for street lights. The LEDs have got 50,000 hours life which has again helped them to reduce the maintenance charges.
