On Saturday, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) would be launching a massive campaign to create awareness about the swine flu. Since January 1, there are 13 swine flu deaths have been reported in Telangana.
Municipal Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar said the campaign will highlight slum-dwellers and school children who will be sensitised about the dos and don’ts to prevent the spread of infection. He said GHMC and the district medical officer of Health Department will take up massive awareness campaign. Were swine flu cases are reported, the corporation is also taking up a special sanitation drive in slums and high-risk spots.
It has deployed 24 vehicles; every vehicle has a medical officer, two nurses and a local community organiser. He said, every day the GHMC lifts 3,800 tonnes of garbage and in view of present situation, it is streamlining the process further.
