The face book of a trainee IAS officer Riju Bapna working in Seoni, Mahdya Pradesh, drew a hot debate in the social media for her comments against birth of a girl. An officer Santosh Chowte working in the Human Rights Commission, MP, kept harassing her sending objectionable messages to her in the social media. He was dismissed from the service based on her police complaint. Later, she was told to give her statement in the court but she appealed for conduct of the enquiry in secrecy as a woman has a right to ask for it. But the advocate shouted at her saying that it was not possible in the court though she is an IAS officer. She maintained that a woman has a right to ask for secret enquiry in respect of sexual cases. What is the plight of a common woman in such cases If an IAS officer faced such a humiliating treatment in the court, she said. This is a big poser to the nation and she further prayed to the God opposing birth of female child in this country which is known for holding women in high esteem.“ Except saying this I cannot do anything, “ Riju said. One can gauge the extent of sexual harassments against women.
