As an effect of the shortage of rainfall and the closure of Babli project gates in Maharashtra, the river Godavari has almost dried up in Nizamabad district. The fishermen are miserably affected as the water-level is at its low. The river flows up to the Sriram Sagar Project or SRSP in Telangana entering through Kandakurthi village in Renjal Mandal from Maharashtra.
The SRSP project recorded lower water level as much as of 90.31 tmc in its total storage capacity of 1,091 tmc ft. The reservoir was fully stored on the same day last year. The officials of the SRSP project are concerned about the dripping water level in the project, and as an immediate step, the entire outflow to the main canals has been restricted.
